Everything you need to know to start using AI tools — even if you've never tried before.
A prompt is simply what you type into an AI tool like ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini. It's your instruction — the thing you ask it to do.
Think of it like asking a very clever (but very literal) assistant for help. The better your instruction, the better the result you'll get back.
"Help me with my CV"
→ Generic, cookie-cutter result
"Write a CV for a marketing manager role at a London agency. I have 5 years' experience..."
→ Tailored, impressive result
That's what The Prompt Toolbox is all about. We've done the hard work of writing really good prompts, so you just need to copy them, fill in your details, and go.

Copies the prompt text to your clipboard.
Go to ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini.
Ctrl+V (or Cmd+V on Mac) — done.
Replace anything in [square brackets] with your details.
And that's it!
Instead of "write me an email", say "write a polite email to my landlord asking about a broken boiler, mentioning I reported it two weeks ago." The more detail you give, the better.
Our prompts use [square brackets] to show where you should add your own information. Don't skip these — they're what make the result personalised to you.
If the first result isn't quite right, just tell the AI what to change. "Make it shorter", "use a friendlier tone", or "can you add a section about X?" — it's a conversation, not a one-shot thing.
Avoid putting bank details, National Insurance numbers, or passwords into any AI tool. Treat it like a helpful stranger — brilliant for general help, but keep your secrets to yourself.
